Integrating Technology and Software to School Bus Maintenance and Inspections

Speaker: Zachary Moren

Description: Transportation operations need a tool to manage their fleet and ensure their vehicles are maintained, safe, and compliant, resulting in increased uptime. As schools move toward EV, a fleet management tool is more critical than ever. In this 40-minute interactive presentation, you’ll learn how fleet maintenance and inspection technology such as Servicefinder can be a vital partner in ensuring that nothing is overlooked. Participate in an actual inspection using a mobile tool and see firsthand how easy it is to submit an inspection form digitally. Create a work order based on the inspection fault and assign the work to a technician using the scheduler. Efficiently run a report of open work orders by technician or date started. From inspections to work orders to billing and invoicing, fleet maintenance technology can help you be more organized and efficient and prevent you from missing anything. These tools allow your team to submit requests from anywhere on a mobile device, and you can keep an eye on operations by utilizing a custom dashboard.

Note: This is an included session for the Inspection Training attendees before the hands-on training off-site, and it is also OPEN to all other main conference attendees.

Driver Training: Using Tools Ranging from Common-Sense to Technology

Presenter:  Dick Fischer, Owner, Transportation Development Group

Description: The Commercial Driver’s License manual is the primary resource for safe and effective school bus drivers, as it contains the rules and regulations that govern their profession. The CDL manual contains many common-sense tools to ensure safe and effective driving on routes and at school bus stops. Drivers also need proper training and coaching to apply the principles of the handbook to various situations they may encounter on the road and at school bus stops. This session will review the main requirements of the CDL handbook and provide tips and techniques for driver training and evaluation. It will also discuss how technology can be used to enhance driver performance and safety, but not as a substitute for sound judgement and skills. Attendees will learn how to use the CDL handbook as a guide, not a crutch, and how to combine common sense and technology to make the school bus ride as safe as possible.
